Amplify Your Voice: The Asian Pacific Islander Speaker Experience
What does it take to step into the spotlight as an Asian or Pacific Islander (API) speaker? With roughly 24.8 million Asians in the United States in 2023—about 7 % of the total population—API communities are among the fastest growing racial and ethnic groups, yet their voices are often underrepresented on professional stages. Positive representation is not just nice to have—it can boost self esteem, reduce stereotypes and provide validation for marginalized communities. In this engaging session, Certified Speaking Professional and trainer shares real world experiences from men and women across diverse API backgrounds—from East Asian to South Asian, Filipino to Polynesian—exploring how heritage, language and gender intersect with the art of public speaking. Whether you’re a seasoned presenter or just starting out, you’ll gain insight into the joys and challenges of being an API speaker and learn how inclusive voices can resonate with audiences everywhere.
You will discover:
- Cultural context and authenticity: How to honor your heritage while crafting universal stories. Understand the diversity within API communities—spanning hundreds of languages and cultures—and learn to weave those experiences into narratives that connect with global audiences.
- Overcoming stereotypes and barriers: Explore the “bamboo ceiling,” gender expectations and other obstacles that API speakers face. Participants will identify common biases and develop strategies to build confidence, assert presence and advocate for equitable representation, recognizing how positive exposure reduces stereotypes.
- Building inclusive influence: Learn techniques to amplify your voice, mentor the next generation and inspire audiences of all backgrounds. We’ll discuss how male and female API speakers can use storytelling, humor and cultural insights to create memorable presentations that elevate marginalized voices and encourage diverse participation in the speaking industry.

From Surviving to Thriving: You Are The Only Person Who Is Stopping You
Depression is an invisible epidemic that does not discriminate. 29% of U.S. adults report having been diagnosed with depression at some point in their lifetime, yet the stigma surrounding depression forces those who are suffering to stay silent and hesitate to reach out for help. Globally, the loss of productivity due to depression and anxiety costs 1 trillion USD per year. This can be prevented with a higher mental health awareness and supportive organizational culture.
From survivor of chronic depression to concert pianist and entrepreneur, presenter shares how she turned depression into her superpower, and how attendees can supercharge their life force and live a fulfilling life, regardless of their background and identity. This speech challenges attendees’ limiting beliefs about mental illness, inspires hope and courage, and creates a compassionate and inclusive culture.
Mu-Yin “Molly” Chen is a multi-passionate creative. She is a speaker, entrepreneur, author, jewelry designer, concert pianist, and media composer. Think INSIDE the Box ~ Transforming Cross-Cultural Barriers into High-Performance Drivers
In today’s globalized world, cross-cultural misunderstandings are more than just minor setbacks—they can disrupt productivity, derail collaboration, and erode trust. Gallup’s recent research shows that poor cross-cultural communication costs companies $8.9 trillion globally each year.
While conventional wisdom suggests that mastering cultural norms is key, it often falls short because our “common sense” isn’t so “common” in a culturally diverse environment. Our “common sense” creats a barrier and leads to misunderstandings, miscommunication, and mistrust. But what if, instead of struggling with these cross-cultural barriers, we could transform them into high-performance drivers?
It’s time to think INSIDE the box. Uncover “the Culture of One” “—the unique qualities within each individual—and create high-performance global teams. The secret to success is rooted in 誠 Sei – 和 Wa – 魂 Kon.
In this keynote, you’ll explore the timeless Japanese principles of Sei-Wa-Kon, and learn a 3-step strategy to cultivate meaningful connections, collaboration, and creative solutions – both globally and locally.
Get ready to transcend traditional approaches, break through the cross-cultural barriers and discover your breakthrough.
The audience will learn:
• Why your messages aren’t getting through in a cross-cultural environment
• How cultural diversity impacts the performance of your diverse team
• The 3-step process for getting your messages heard and acted upon, both globally and locally
